The winner was Vinay Lakshman who scored a perfect 6/7 and defended his title from the July RJ Shield Tournament. He had draws against Thumula Gamage and Viswamithra Shashishekara. Vinay had to defeat Isaac Zhao in the last round to take the title when both players were on 5/6.

This time we ran three separate tournaments. In the U/12 event Alex Arnold scored a perfect 7/7 as did Matthew Cheah in the U/10 event.

Here is Vinay’s win against Anthony Hain in round 4.

Thank you Robert for publishing this game. Having analysed the game with Anthony, we believe that questionable moves were made by both players (8…Be7 and 16.Nf4) giving away tempo, but White lost by missing 21.a5! (instead of Kh1). Your comments would be appreciated.
