A popular introduction to chess for the entire school.
School incursions provide a balanced introduction to chess, and involve a variety of fun activities including:
- Chess Fundamentals – a lesson covering at least three separate topics from our extensive chess curriculum such as tactics, famous players and strategy to name a few.
- Practice – students apply skills from the theory lesson in a chess game scenario.
- Chess tournament – students get to test their new chess skills in a tournament against their friends!
- Challenge the Coach! – the most exciting activity at any incursion, the chess coach will compete against up to 30 players at once! Major prizes for anyone who can win a game!
In order for the coach to provide individual assistance to each participant, group sizes are limited to a maximum of 30 students. We can then run up to 6 groups during a day or provide multiple coaches (at additional cost) to cover large schools.
A giant chess set is also available for hire during the preceding, or subsequent, days.
With half-day, full-day, quarter-day and demonstrations available, we have an incursion program to meet all group sizes and budgets!
