Chess Kids Personal Training
Chess Clubs cater for most casual players and there are many clubs at schools and during evenings around Australia. Occasionally there are students who wish to take their interest further and become involved in tournaments; either at a local, state, national or even international level. These players are often not challenged sufficiently within a school environment. To provide opportunities for these more interested players to develop their full potential Chess Kids provides individually tailored training programs. How do we arrange Personal Training for our students? Chess Kids Training is usually given in 1/2 hour or 1 hour sessions. We have a dedicated coaching room and library which provides a suitable quiet working area and allows the student to be immersed in chess for a period of time. All classes will be run from the Chess Kids syllabus and linked into our "Badge Tests" which are a set of independent achievement criteria designed to allow children to see self-improvement rather than only measure success against others. What are the costs? Students are charged in advance for six sessions. Cancellations without notice will not receive refunds. Individual lesson – A coach will work one-on-one for 1 hour at $50 per half-hour, or $70 for a 1 hour session. Small Group – As a cheaper alternative 2, 3 or 4 students may be grouped for lessons. Costs per person are: $30 (half hour) or $40 (1 hour session).
What success has Chess Kids had? Chess Kids runs a program called ‘Chess Kids Elite’ which includes most of the best junior players in the State. Our students include former Australian U/10 Champion (Wilson Lin), Australian U/12 Champion (Jing Jia) and Australian U/16 Champion (Samuel Chow). In the most recent State Junior Championships 8 of the top 12 players were Chess Kids students.
